| By achieving 20 Blue Flags, Albufeira is back on the highest Portuguese level in what is the most important European environmental honour related to beach quality. |
This year, Coelha and Castelo beaches joined the other 18 awarded beaches in 2010, making Albufeira Blue Flag champion. With about 30 kilometres of coast, the council of Albufeira was prized with some of the most beautiful beaches on Earth. This is a magnificent Natural Patrimony that has been defended and preserved with balance.
Albufeira is one of the Portuguese councils with the most Blue Flags, honour which proves the quality of the beaches in matters such as cleanness, accesses or waters. Albufeira’s beauty and costal diversity make it a unique place.
The European Blue Flag Association is responsible for assigning blue flags to the beaches which follow certain natural environment, safety and user comfort, information and environmental awareness criteria. Coelha beach was awarded the Blue Flag this year, for the first time.
Nestled between golden cliffs, Coelha beach is a small beach sheltered from winds. In this beach the influx level isn’t as big as in other beaches; however it is a cosier beach with golden sands and bathed by clear water.
Coelha beach disposes of Easy Pedestrian Access, Free parking, Restaurant/Bar, Awning rental, Beach umbrella areas, Sport Fishing.
Doesn´t allow animals.
